Nitrox Blender

The Nitrox Blender - is designed to teach detailed technical information to students including applicable standards, equipment, safety when using oxygen, handling and cleaning for oxygen service, and of course the blending of Nitrox using a number of different systems. ProTec has an in house blending station complete with booster pump giving aditional value to the course.

Oxygen cleaning is done in our workshop area. This course is enjoyed by divers for a number of different reasons. Any member of a diving facility that is dealing with, selling, or working around a Nitrox Fill Station should enroll in this course to understand the liability, dangers, applications and uses of these gases. Remember, the hazards surrounding the blending of oxygen apply directly to the blender.

Prerequisites - Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Must have a basic Nitrox certification from a recongnized training agency. Must have a need to become a blender. Must be recommended by an instructor or facility.

Course Description - This generally 1 full day program has been designed to train competent personnel in the safe handling of oxygen and the preperation of Nitrox. This course includes a minimum of two hours of hands on experience preparing Nitox mixtures. During this course there is a written exam and a passing score of 80% must be achieved. Students must demonstrate mixing and O2 cleaning capabilities.

Upon completion and certication of this course divers will be issued a certification card and wall certificate as well as being qualified to clean cylinders for O2 use, visually inspect cylinders, and mix gases. Blenders may not work on other equipment unless certified by the manufacturer of the equipment.

NOTE: This course is a prerequisite for the Trimix Blender Course.
